151 - Catch a Fire mini-review

Derek Luke may play the protagonist, a apartheid-era coal plant foreman turned revolutionary, but Tim Robbins knocks the ball out of the segregated park as a calculated anti-terrorism cop. In many ways, this is the problem; Robbins does such a smashing job of humanizing the man that I found myself rooting for the apartheid goons to stop the hero. What wants to be a grade A message picture turns into a grade B thriller instead. The closing takes on an off-putting documentary quality that doubtlessly should have been abondoned.
