564 - You Aught to Know - United 93 - #5

United 93, Paul Greengrass, 2006, 50 points

There is no doubt that the events of September 11th, 2001 changed everybody's life in some way. It altered America's way of thinking, and changed the course of our nation's history. Thus a movie was made in honor of those whose lives were lost or shattered because of it. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the movie is the stoicism in which it treats the events. This is not a film full of drama or big-name actors. It simply tells the story how it is, or at least how we think it was. The whole story is simply laid out for all to see, and it is because this that United 93 evokes so much emotion. The terror attacks of 9/11 are perhaps the only thing everybody of our generation will take with us to the grave, and Greengrass' film perfectly encompasses that day. I think this is the best movie of the decade, because it is a one that all who see will never forget. - Tom Slife
